Nachdem wir den ersten Preis beim Agropreis gewonnen haben, ist das Interesse an unserem Hopfentropfen (ein Likör aus Hopfen und Kräutern) sehr gross. Die Kunden kommen in Scharen. Zu Beginn mag es noch stimmen, sie im Haus zu empfangen und das Produkt am Esstisch zu verkaufen, aber auf längere Sicht ist die Situation für uns als Familie nicht tragbar.

Schnell ist klar: Ein Hofladen muss her! Wir haben einen Kellerraum, den wir wenig nutzen. Dank des Preisgelds haben wir ein Startkapital, um das Projekt Hofladen in Angriff zu nehmen. Mit viel Eigenleistung und Hilfe von Fachleuten entsteht ein kleines Verkaufslokal mit direktem Zugang von aussen. Es dient gleichzeitig auch als Abfüll- und Lagerraum.

Ein weiterer Verkaufskanal eröffnet sich für uns mit dem Wyland-Hütz. Mehrere Bauernfamilie haben sich zusammengeschlossen und vermarkten ihre Spezialitäten als Geschenkkörbe. Für uns eine sehr gute Möglichkeit den Hopfentropfen weiter bekannt zu machen.

viele Fragen zum Hopfenanbau. Hopfen ist eine sehr interessante Pflanze, die jedoch nur wenig bekannt ist. In der Schweiz ist sie mit 17 Hektaren Anbaufläche eine Nischenkultur. Durch die Neugierde der Kunden wird bei uns der Innovationsgeist erneut geweckt: Wir könnten doch einen Hopfen-Lehrpfad anlegen und Degustationen anbieten. Gäste verpflegen wäre doch was, meint Markus. Brigitte wehrt erschrocken ab: Für Gäste kochen, niemals!
Da die Nachfrage nach solchen Angeboten da ist, probieren wir einfach mal wild drauf los.
Die erste Gruppe, die wir zu Degustation und Zvieri empfingen, bleibt uns für immer in Erinnerung: Ein Familienverein, zirka 40 Personen, 20 davon Kinder. Das Wetter war unsicher und beim Zvieri ging ein heftiger Regenschauer nieder. Als Wetterschutz waren nur zwei grosse Sonnenstoren vorhanden. – Es musste kommen, wie es kam: Am Schluss spielten die Kinder bei uns im Haus und die Erwachsenen versammelten sich alle an der Bar im Fazit: So funktioniert es nicht! Ein bisschen besser eingerichtet müssen wir sein. Ein stabiler, gedeckter Platz direkt neben dem Hofladen, das wäre super! Und eine Weiterbildung als Gastgeberin und Gastgeber würde uns sicher auch nicht schaden.
Gesagt, getan! Im Winter widmet sich Markus dem Bau des gedeckten Sitzplatzes, und Brigitte besucht am Strickhof, dem Kompetenzzentrum für Landwirtschaft im Kanton Zürich, das Seminar für Gastgeberinnen.

Der Hofplatz muss nun endlich geteert werden! Es mag noch gehen, dass wir selbst bei Regenwetter ständig schmutzige Schuhe haben.
Bei den Gästen geht das aber gar nicht.
So wird auch das in Angriff genommen. So schön, ab sofort müssen wir fast keine Schuhe mehr putzen.
